Fabulous Fabric Creations

Fabric – We all use cloth in one form or another, every day. We wear it, dry ourselves off with it, sleep under it, even dry dishes with it. Scientists have discovered the first forms of clothes were being made 120,000 years ago from Animal skins and natural fibres. People needed to protect themselves from the elements and found a way.

We have come a long way since then, preferring the skin to remain on the animal for starters, however, natural fibres are still the favourite amongst many people.

I enjoy playing with fabric, it is so relaxing choosing some material, then allowing it to whisper. Much like a painter letting the paint settle on the canvas, or a wood turner carving some driftwood, many times the intended design changes and I am often surprised with what ends up being made.

My bags are intended for everyday use. Whether it is a quick trip to the shops, going to work and needing a bag big enough to transport your laptop or you are meeting up with friends at your favourite café.

There is a bag for every person and every occasion, made with varying types of materials.

 The very first Bag I made in 2021 was for a beautiful young lady. She did not like paper waste and is an avid protector of the environment. I was preparing to wrap a gift for her and other than paper, fabric was my next choice to use for wrapping. (I happened to have some dark green velvet and beige material, similar to ribbing. in my cupboard.) After enclosing the gift and adding a handle, (the gift was rather heavy and it needed to be carried in one hand) I realised I had actually made a bag. Even now, this bag continues to be used.
